2014 {Year in Review}

It’s been a crazy year! Last year at this time I based my business in Providence, Rhode Island. I was just getting started with George Street Photo & Video and beginning to make work friends, collaborating with Sara Pacheco of Sara Smile Photography {www.sarasmilephotography.com}.  In May the business and I relocated to Washington, DC. I traveled a TON to wrap up New England bookings and started gaining traction in the Maryland, DC, Virginia network. I’ve made some fabulous connections had the opportunity to learn from and connect with Sarah Bradshaw {www.sarahbradshawphotography.com}. As well as work a great deal with the fantastic Stacey Windsor {www.staceywindsorphotography.com}.

With a change in career path and commitments, you {readers}  will notice fewer postings over the upcoming year. I am not giving up my artistic passions but my attention is needed elsewhere as I have been accepted into a Psy.D. program at the Institute for Psychological Sciences.  I have a few weddings on the books this year but not nearly as many as last year! 2014 was a record for me and the business.

Kiara & Vincent {George Street Photo}

Kiara & Vincent chose the National Arboretum as the backdrop for their portraits.  We then dropped by the Washington Monument for some night shots. Vincent was particularly amazing at picking out the right locations – he scouted out the area a few days before and new exactly where to be in the park. He chose some very gorgeous spots.  Probably one of the most enthusiastic guys I’ve encountered. These two were super sweet. We had a great time together. They are getting married next month in Florida and I am so excited for them!!

 

Caroline & Dustin {George Street Photo}

My first engagement session in Alexandria was with Caroline & Dustin at River Farm. What a fabulous location {and we were there in the fall!} I can’t wait to see what it looks like in the spring.  Caroline & Dustin were a great couple – super cute together.  I loved the costume changes, most especially Caroline’s cozy cable knit sweater.  It was a perfect fall session!

Candice & Steve {George Street Photo}

I know I’m not supposed to play favorites, and I love all of the couples I have the privilege of photographing, but this particular wedding warmed my heart in a special way.  Candice & Steve were a pleasure to be around, a very honest and genuine couple – we were fast friends!  I felt more like a guest than ‘the photographer.’  They had a great group of people surrounding and supporting them. It was an honor to spend the day celebrating their wedding.  Highlights: puppies in the middle of the portrait session, turquoise ombre dresses, amazing relatives from S. Africa, the surprise party prop box, and dancing with Candice’s grandpa at the end of the night.

    

 

 

Kristi & Chris {George Street Photo}

Kristi & Chris were married on October 17, 2014 at the Army Navy Country Club.  I really enjoyed getting to know them.  The ceremony was on the terrace overlooking the Washington Monument during sunset. One of the most beautiful details was a hand painted celtic book that Chris had made for Kristi as a wedding gift, it was a delight to photograph.  Picturesque, perfect weather, and a wonderful couple.

 

    

Jennifer & Atul {George Street Photo}

I cannot wait to celebrate with Jennifer & Atul this coming September!  It was so great to get to know them over an engagement session. We met super early in the morning to beat the traffic/tourists and got some gorgeous just post-sunrise shots at the Jefferson Memorial.  These two should win an award for most unique portraits – they brought masks and requested a stop at the Exorcist stairs! We had a great time.
